Taking A Long Term View Of Web3

avc.com

The most important software innovation of the last decade, which started with the Bitcoin white paper fourteen years ago, is the emergence of open-source software and decentralized protocols that are the foundation of web3. It is the promise of software that is not controlled by a company, but instead by an open-source community with built-in safeguards and increased transparency relative to today’s tech and financial systems, that gives us so much confidence in the future of web3.

Russia: New ‘Homosexual Propaganda’ Law threatens freedom to publish

mailchi.mp

Reports in Le Monde quote Oleg Novikov, the CEO of Eksmo, Russia’s largest publishing house, estimating that 50% of their books would be threatened by the bill. Kristenn Einarsson, Chair of the IPA’s Freedom to Publish Committee said: This new bill targets the LGBTQ+ community and sees the Russian state step up its censorship of creative works. Russian publishers will find themselves at risk, even when publishing some classics of Russian literature. Under the new law, individuals can be fined up to 400,000 roubles and organizations 5m roubles for “propagandizing nontraditional sexual relations,” while foreigners could face up to 15 days’ arrest and expulsion from Russia.
